Mehendi, or henna is associated with positive vibes and good luck. This herbal paste was traditionally applied on the bride’s hands by close friends and family members to bless the bride with good wishes. As time passed, Mehendi became an art form and most brides now get it done professionally by Mehendi artists. In most Indian communities, the Mehedi ceremony is an integral part of the wedding celebrations, filled with fun and frolic and the bride and other women in the family put on beautiful Mehedi designs.
According to traditions, the groom’s initials are drawn in the bride’s Mehendi design. It is also said that the deeper the color of the Mehendi, the more the bride will be loved by her husband.
